Principal
Updates - Bill
Thanks to PTA
Officers for their service. Teacher Appreciation week was greatly appreciated.
3rd grade reading CSAP results: increased from 68% to 78% Proficient
& Advanced.
Will be implementing RIGBY reading system next year. Patty Thomas, Literacy
Coordinator, will be reviewing the program with the staff.
Projecting 636 students for next year. Currently have 630 registered.
Will start out with large 2nd grade classes (32 students), and we will
request another teacher. Class sizes average at 24 students.
Mrs. Addy will be moving to 3rd grade. Tami Thatcher will move from
3rd grade to be the new computer teacher replacing Mrs. West who is
retiring.
Field day is May 27. School starts next year on 8/19.
Open House will be
on the 18th of August - 3:15 - 7:15
Fundraising
- Rose
Red Wheel fundraising
went well. Raised approx $8K. Had a little difficulty with getting orders
in alphabetical order for distribution.
Will be adding World’s Finest chocolate bars as an additional fundraiser
next year. Motion passed that funds raised from chocolate bar sales will
be used for the school technology fund.
Still need to make decision on which vendor to use for spring fundraiser
next year.
Will be using Fun Services for wrapping paper in the fall and a carnival
during the Silent Auction (Nov 11)
Mother/Son Update
- Cherie & Carla
Expect to be
under budget. Asking for RSVPs helps and will be done for future events.
Additional parent suggestions included: (1) Be specific in what help is
needed. For example, need xx people to decorate for xx hours. (2) Boys
like to hang out together, but not necessarily with a themed event.Maybe
look at having the event offsite like at Broomfield Event Center or Splitz.
Would require a fee from participants.
Teacher Appreciation Update – Carla
Teachers really
enjoyed the food & gifts during the week.
Next time, will be specific
in asking for help, and will look for other folks to cover each day instead
of having Carla make arrangements for every day.
Cougar
Store – Mary Cohen
Store is fully
stocked for next year. May look into getting something new over the summer.
Will do a Spirit Day on 6/4, the last day of school.
Will plan to sell store items at Open House and have kids wear their T-shirts.
Motion passed to split profits at the end of the year, 50/50, with 1⁄2
going to PTA fund and 1⁄2 going to school technology fund.
Dinner Night - Mary Drake & Chris Murphy
We made $205 at the Gunther Toody’s dinner night. Ms. Jones class
won the milk shakes.
Next dinner night will be at Sweet Tomatoes on Wed 5/28
Document
Camera fundraising
Bill has $10K
allocated next year for document cameras/technology.
Will need approximately $30K to provide doc cameras to every classroom.
Motion passed that PTA will fund $10/child for field trips + 5th grade
Ameritowne & continuation. Balance of funds that would have been spent
on field trip will be allocated to school technology fund.
Next year will schedule dinner nights every month. Profits from every
other month will go into camera/technology fund.
