Bond-funded addition to open for 2018-19 school year
There is a buzz of excitement at Cotton Creek Elementary stoked by the steady mechanical whir of construction equipment as construction is well under way on a long-awaited expansion to the school.
Construction on the two-story, 14,000 square-foot expansion to the building began in December. When the eight-classroom expansion is finished for the start of the 2018-19 school year, Cotton Creek will be able to move first and second grade students to the new classrooms thus allowing 4th grade students to move out of mobile classrooms and into the main building. The nearly 40-year-old building will also receive upgrades during Summer 2018 including repairs to important mechanical systems.
The 2016 Bond Program is reaching all schools and facilities in the Five Star District, investing $350 million in the construction of new schools and badly-needed improvements to existing district schools and facilities.
