My name is Amy Pollock and this is my fifth year teaching kindergarten. I am thrilled to be teaching kindergarten here at Cotton Creek! Ever since I was young, I have always loved working with children, but being able to teach them gives me the opportunity to make a geniune difference. Nothing can explain the feeling I get when I see those "light bulb moments" and to think I may have played a small part. My goal as an educator is to instill a lifelong love of learning in each of my students, where connections can be made and they can see purpose to what is being taught.
I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and a Masters of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After receiving my degree, I taught for five years in Loveland, Colorado. I spent my first year of teaching in second grade and the last four years in third grade.
I was fortunate to be able to take some time off from teaching so that I could be a stay at home mom to my three daughters. This was a wonderful season of life for me.
I have three beautiful daughters, Abby, Hannah, and Gracie, who keep me on my toes! My oldest daughter, Abby, graduated from the University of Colorado and is now working at Core Power Yoga as a sales executive. My middle daughter, Hannah, will be a junior at the University of Northern Colorado study nursing. Hannah will also be performing on the Sugar Bears dance team for her school. Gracie, my youngest daughter, is a Senior at Horizon High School. When I am not visiting my daughters at college, you can find me at the ice skating rink watching my youngest daughter figure skate or taking long runs. This summer I ran two half marathons and hope to complete a whole marathon in the next year!
I am very excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher. I know kindergarten is a time of many new experiences and a lot of growth cognitively, emotionally, and socially. I look forward to inspiring your child and also being inspired by them!
