I have had the pleasure of teaching and learning for the last 28+ years in the Adams 12 Five Star District. As I have evolved as a teacher, a quote that has motivated me the most is “Change is the end result of all true learning.” My job as an educator is to stimulate curiosity and make learning approachable and rewarding for all students. I have taught first grade, second grade, fourth grade, multiage classes as well as student teaching in third grade. I am a partner in your child’s education. I am working with the district, my colleagues and you to foster your child’s fourth grade experience.
My first degree was a bachelor of sciences from Colorado State University. After that, I obtained my teaching certificate from Metropolitan State University. After several years of teaching and learning from every class that I could find, I attended Regis University for my master’s degree. While I was at Regis, I was fortunate to be part of a program that allowed me to learn from some of the most respected leaders in the education world.
Education has changed tremendously since I first began teaching and much of it is related to the advances that have been made in technology. The internet has allowed the speed of global knowledge to increase exponentially and my students need to see that I am a passionate learner that reflects deeply on what I am currently learning.
On personal note, I am married and have two college aged children. My husband is a project manager for Sony Electronics and travels extensively. My twins are freshmen at Montanna State University and Northeastern. We have a delightfully crazy dog named Cappy and two cats. Our family is very active and we love to spend time outdoors and traveling. If I have any spare time, I am either cooking, reading or thinking about my classroom.
