My name is Amy Pollock and I am thrilled to be teaching the half-day kindergarten at Cotton Creek this year! Ever since I was young, I have always loved working with children, but being able to teach them gives me the opportunity to make a geniune difference. Nothing can explain the feeling I get when I see those "light bulb moments" and to think I may have played a small part. My goal as an educator is to instill a lifelong love of learning in each of my students, where connections can be made and they can see purpose to what is being taught.
I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and a Masters of Arts degree in Elementary Education. After receiving my degree, I taught for five years in Loveland, Colorado. I spent my first year of teaching in second grade and the last four years in third grade.
I was fortunate to be able to take some time off from teaching so that I could be a stay at home mom to my three daughters. This was a wonderful season of life for me.
I was a Guest Teacher for Adams 12 School District for the last six years. Guest teaching was a wonderful opportunity to see what was being taught in the schools, however it did make me miss having my own classroom.
I have three beautiful teenage daughters, Abby, Hannah, and Gracie, who keep me on my toes! When I am not visiting my oldest daughter at college, you can find me at the ice skating rink watching my youngest figure skate or cheering my middle daughter on at a dance competition.
I am very excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher. I know kindergarten is a time of many new experiences and a lot of growth cognitively, emotionally, and socially. I look forward to inspiring your child and also being inspired by them!
